Regular Season Round 3: Gigantes - Montaneras 69-66

A very close game took place in Carolina between Gigantes and Montaneras. Gigantes (2-1) got a very close home victory over Montaneras (1-2). Gigantes managed to escape with a 3-point win 69-66 on Tuesday evening. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 25-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Gigantes outrebounded Montaneras 45-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Gigantes especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Markel Walker (185-90, college: UCLA, agency: Regeneracom Sports) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Ashley Gomez (173, college: Adelphi) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. The former international point guard Pamela Rosado (165-86) came up with 23 points and 7 assists and American forward Shawnta Dyer (185-91, college: Louisville, agency: Two Points) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Montaneras in the defeat. Gigantes will meet at home Leonas in the next round. Montaneras will play against Atenienses (#3) and hope to win that game.
