Second Stage Round 1: Metros STGO - Huracanes PP 97-84

An exciting game was played in Santiago. Metros STGO faced Huracanes PP. Host Metros STGO (2-0) defeated guests from Puerto Plata (0-2) 97-84. The game was mostly controlled by Metros STGO. Huracanes PP was better in fourth quarter 30-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Metros STGO made 7 blocks. Center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. American Robert Glenn (203-89, college: IUPUI) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Metros STGO players scored in double figures. Naturalized Spanish power forward Alexis Montas (202-79) produced 9 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized American forward Emmy Andujar (198-93, college: Manhattan) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Metros STGO will face again Huracanes PP (#6) in Puerto Plata in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Huracanes PP will play on the road against Reales LV in La Vega and hope to win that game.
