Spain eased into the semifinal stage in Rio de Janeiro. They fended off France in the quarterfinal clash tonight. Nikola Mirotic stepped up with 23 points hitting 5 three pointers to lead the winners. Spain dominated from start to finish in this one. They secured a 19:16 lead after the opening quarter. les Bleues could not keep up the pace in the second frame. Spain stormed to a 43:30 halftime advantage. They stayed aggressive throughout the third term. Spain unloaded 26 points in the quarter to take a 20-point lead at the final intermission. France just could not find the rhythm this evening as Spain cruised to the victory in the final period. Hernangomez had 16 points, while Llull added 10 points for the winners. Tony Parker responded with 14 points for France. Nando De Colo had 13 points in the defeat.
