Date: August 19, 2016
The game between Top Four teams took place in Mayaguez. Their biggest opponent host Indias (3-2) lost to top-ranked Santeras (3-0) 77-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Indias. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-11. But Indias won second period 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Santeras made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by international swingman Ali Gibson (180-93, college: Oregon St.) who scored that evening 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Deven Hunter (190-94, college: Oregon St.) supported her with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Even 13 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists by the former international guard Ashley Prim (170-91, college: St.Joseph's, agency: Gamble Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Indias. American forward Amanda Thompson (178-87, college: Oklahoma) added 12 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Four Indias players scored in double figures. Santeras have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Indias at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. Santeras will play against league's second-placed Gigantes in Carolina in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Indias will have a break next round.
