Second Stage Round 1: Huracanes PP - Reales LV 69-81

Another exciting game was played in Puerto Plata between Reales LV and Huracanes PP where Reales LV (1-1) beat Huracanes PP (0-2) on the road 81-69. It looked good early as Huracanes PP took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Reales LV took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 12 points. Huracanes PP was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American Antonio Pena (204-86, college: Villanova) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Juan Coronado (193-83, agency: Basket Management Solutions) contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Reales LV players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican forward Benito Santiago (198-89, college: Cumberlands, agency: Paris Global Sports) answered with 18 points and American guard John Taylor (185-89, college: Fresno Pacific) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Huracanes PP. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Reales LV will play against Titanes Licey (#5) in San Cristobal in the next round. Huracanes PP will play again on the road against Reales LV in La Vega to get more than just one victory in their record.
