Regular Season Round 7: Gigantes - Lady Cardinals 84-49

BSNF top team - Gigantes (6-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Lady Cardinals (0-6) in Carolina 84-49. The game was mostly controlled by Gigantes. Lady Cardinals was better in fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Lady Cardinals' 28 and made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Gigantes forced 36 Lady Cardinals turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Lady Cardinals' players. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Kiara Quinones-Noa (165-93) who led her team to a victory scoring 14 points and 8 assists. American forward Markel Walker (185-90, college: UCLA, agency: Regeneracom Sports) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Gigantes players scored in double figures. Gigantes' coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Maria Blazejewski (185-91, college: L.Superior) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import center Teanna Robinson (196-92, college: Mercer) scored 2 points and 12 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-2 record. Newly promoted Lady Cardinals still closes the standings with six games lost. Gigantes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lady Cardinals will play on the road against Indias (#4) in Mayaguez and hope to get finally their first victory.
