There was no surprise when 10th ranked Liga Sorocaba (1-9) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Rio Claro (4-6) 82-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. Rio Claro led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Rio Claro forced 19 Liga Sorocaba turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Rio Claro especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The former international guard Guilherme Pereira (190-91) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard George Yeye Torres (188-91) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Rio Claro players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Maique Tavares (210-93) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Gabriel De Oliveira (202-93) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Liga Sorocaba's coach Rinaldo Rodrigues gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Rio Claro maintains sixth position with 4-6 record. Liga Sorocaba lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. They share the position with Bauru. Rio Claro will meet at home higher ranked Vivo/Franca (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Liga Sorocaba will have a break next round.
