Regular Season Round 12: Montaneras - Cangrejeras 71-66

There was no surprise in Morovis where 6th ranked Cangrejeras (3-7) were defeated by fourth ranked Montaneras (7-3) 71-66 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 23-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Montaneras looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Shae Kelley (185-91, college: Minnesota) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international point guard Pamela Rosado (165-86) who added 14 points and 8 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Kayla Thornton (185-92, college: UTEP) with 23 points and 8 rebounds and her fellow American import power forward Patricia Bright (193-91, college: Oregon St.) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Montaneras moved-up to second place, which they share with Gigantes and Indias. Cangrejeras at the other side keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Montaneras will meet bottom-ranked Lady Cardinals (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Cangrejeras will play against Atenienses in Manati and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
