Regular Season Round 13: Lady Cardinals - Montaneras 49-79

Third ranked Montaneras blasted bottom-ranked Lady Cardinals (0-11) in Lajas 79-49 on Wednesday evening. Lady Cardinals is still unable to win any game. The game without a history. Montaneras led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Lady Cardinals' 22. Montaneras forced 20 Lady Cardinals turnovers and outrebounded them 52-35 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international point guard Pamela Rosado (165-86) nailed 19 points and 7 assists for the winning side and American forward Shae Kelley (185-91, college: Minnesota) accounted for 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Montaneras' coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Maria Blazejewski (185-91, college: L.Superior) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and Dominican Charlenny Frias (170-84) added 12 points respectively for Lady Cardinals in the defeat. Montaneras (8-3) keep a position of league leader, which they share with Gigantes and Indias. Newly promoted Lady Cardinals still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Montaneras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lady Cardinals will play against Cangrejeras (#6) in Santurce and hope to get finally their first victory.
