BSNF top team - Gigantes (9-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Cangrejeras (4-9) in Carolina 81-59. The game without a history. Gigantes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American forward Markel Walker (185-90, college: UCLA) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international forward Yolanda Jones (184-84, college: La-Lafayette) supported her with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by American forward Kayla Thornton (185-92, college: UTEP) did not help to save the game for Cangrejeras. The former international point guard Michelle Gonzalez (167-89, college: FIU) added 13 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 9-3 record, which they share with Indias. Cangrejeras lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with nine games lost. Gigantes will play against bottom-ranked Lady Cardinals (#8) in Lajas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cangrejeras will have a break next round.
