Very important is a road loss of second ranked Correcaminos (5-4) against fourth ranked Aguilas (4-5) on Friday night. Visiting Correcaminos were defeated by Aguilas in Panama City 81-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Correcaminos. Aguilas players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The former international forward Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college: S.Mississippi) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Puerto Rican Nate Butler Lind (198-89, college: TCU) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Aguilas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and the former international swingman Isaac St.Rose (190-83, college: John Brown) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Aguilas maintains fourth place with 4-5 record. Defending champion Correcaminos dropped to the third position with four games lost. Aguilas will play against bottom-ranked Toros (#6) in David in the next round. Correcaminos will play on the road against the league's second-placed Halcones in Panama City and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
