Regular Season Round 1: Istanbul Univ. - Astana Tigers 75-60

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Kazakhstan Astana Tigers (0-1) against Turkish Istanbul Uni on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Istanbul Uni 75-60. The game was mostly controlled by Istanbul Uni. Astana Tigers managed to win second period 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Istanbul Uni forced 24 Astana Tigers turnovers. Bosnian-Serbian guard Sasa Cado (178-89) fired 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Latvian power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Istanbul Uni players scored in double figures. Ukrainian power forward Ganna Zarytska (187-86) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and forward Zalina Kurazova (188-85) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Istanbul Uni is looking forward to face Dynamo Moscow (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Astana Tigers will play against Vega 1 (#12) and are hoping to win this game.
