Vendee Challans (#18) forced the game against Lorient (#8) into an overtime, but lost by three points 85-88 on Friday night. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 22-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-11. The best player for the winners was guard Mathieu Bigote (190-84) who scored 25 points and 5 assists. American forward Jared Newson (196-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Lorient players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Demarco Cox (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and Serbian Djordje Petrovic (202-84) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Lorient will meet Rueil (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vendee Challans will play against CFBB (#17) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
