Mogi das Cruzes thrashed America in the quarterfinal series opener. The game without a history. Mogi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 60.7 percent from the field and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Mogi outrebounded America 41-22 including a 31-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Caio Silveira (211-87, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Mogi players scored in double figures. Guard Rafael Castellon (-85) answered with 19 points and forward Willian Pessoa (202-96) added 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for America. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
