Regular Season Round 5: Yamagata - Cyberdyne IR 64-87
Date: October 8, 2016
Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Yamagata (2-3) was outplayed at home by first ranked Cyberdyne IR (4-1) 87-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cyberdyne IR. Yamagata was better in third quarter 21-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Yamagata 40-18 including a 27-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Cyberdyne IR especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Logan Stutz (205-88, college: Washburn) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Masanari Masanari (186-91) produced 18 points and American center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cyberdyne IR have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-1 record, which they share with Toyotsu FE and Hiroshima D. Yamagata at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Cyberdyne IR will have a break next round. Yamagata will play again at home against the league's leader Cyberdyne IR (#1) and hope to win that game.
