Regular Season Round 5: BK Pardubice - Usti n/Labem 93-90

The most exciting game of round 5 in the NBL took place in Pardubice. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked BK Usti nad Labem (2-3) to second ranked BK Pardubice (4-1) 93-90 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. BK Pardubice forced 22 BK Usti nad Labem turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Joseph Wall (199-89, college: Seattle Pacific) who scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international forward Radek Necas (206-80) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. American swingman Khristian Smith (198-91, college: Indiana St.) produced 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Ladislav Pecka (197-91) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five BK Pardubice and four BK Usti nad Labem players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BK Pardubice maintains second place with 4-1 record behind leader CEZ Nymburk, which they share with BK Opava and Prostejov. BK Usti nad Labem at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with USK Praha and Svitavy. BK Pardubice is looking forward to face bottom-ranked NH Ostrava (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BK Usti nad Labem will play against the league's leader CEZ Nymburk (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
