Regular Season Round 5: Gries/Oberhoffen - Challans 63-61

Important game to mention about took place in Bischwiller. Sixteenth ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (2-3) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 15th ranked Vendee Challans (1-4) 63-61 on Tuesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vendee Challans won third quarter 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gries/Oberhoffen dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Vendee Challans' 26. They outrebounded Vendee Challans 45-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. American power forward Julian Scott (203-90, college: Adams St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ahmed Doumbia (195-89) contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American center Demarco Cox (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Benjamin Thomas (182-82) added 15 points in the effort for Vendee Challans. Gries/Oberhoffen moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Vendee Challans dropped to the sixteenth position with four games lost. Gries/Oberhoffen will face higher ranked Rueil (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vendee Challans will play against GET Vosges (#7) and hope to win that game.
