Regular Season Round 2: Maccabi K/G - Hapoel J-M 79-88
Date: October 15, 2016
Very expected game in Kiryat Gat where Maccabi K/G (0-2) was defeated by Hapoel Jerusalem (2-0) 88-79. It looked good early as Maccabi K/G took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hapoel Jerusalem had a 29-16 second period charge getting the lead and Maccabi K/G was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-88. Hapoel Jerusalem made 24-of-28 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) notched 21 points to lead the effort and forward Shawn Jones (203-92, college: Middle Tenn.St.) supported him with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Even 28 points and 5 steals by guard Tyshawn Taylor (191-90, college: Kansas) did not help to save the game for Maccabi K/G. Forward James Singleton (203-81, college: Murray St., agency: Interperformances) added 19 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Jerusalem's next round opponent will be Galil Gilboa (#8) in Rosh Pina and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi K/G will play at home against Maccabi Haifa (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
