Regular Season Round 3: Varese Robur - Omegna 72-68

Everything went according to plan when Varese Robur (3-0) beat at home Omegna (1-2) 72-68 on Saturday. Varese Robur forced 21 Omegna turnovers. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Federico Bolzonella (184-84) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Point guard Marco Santambrogio (188-88) helped adding 15 points and 5 assists. Varese Robur's coach Francesco Vescovi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Marco Arrigoni (199-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) with 17 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Alexander Simoncelli (186-86, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 16 points and 5 assists. Four Varese Robur and five Omegna players scored in double figures. Varese Robur will face Firenze Enic (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Omegna will play against USE Basket (#3) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the Serie A2 just one year after relegation.
