Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourteenth ranked Taranto and 13th ranked Valdiceppo had identical 1-2 record. This time Taranto used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Perugia 71-64 on Sunday night. Taranto made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Taranto outrebounded Valdiceppo 35-22 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international center Roberto Chiacig (210-74, agency: SPORTlab Agency) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Alessandro Procacci (184-94) chipped in 17 points. Four Taranto players scored in double figures. Umberto Meschini (190-94) produced 20 points and center Alessandro Panzieri (201-95, college: High School) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Valdiceppo's coach Paolo Pierotti rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Taranto (2-2) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 13 other teams. Newly promoted Valdiceppo dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Taranto will face Ortona (#12) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Valdiceppo will play against Matera and hope to win that game.
