Regular Season Round 5: Wisla Krakow - Pogon RS 53-66

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Wisla Krakow (0-5) lost at home to tenth ranked Pogon RS (2-2) 66-53 on Sunday. Pogon RS dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Wisla Krakow's 24. Pogon RS forced 20 Wisla Krakow turnovers and had a 29-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Patryk Jelen (183-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 4 assists. Point guard Mateusz Pawlik (180-92) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Pogon RS players scored in double figures. Forward Wojciech Gorgon (194-89) answered with 19 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Jakub Zaczek (204-96) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Wisla Krakow. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Pogon RS moved-up to seventh place in Group C, which they share with Przemysl. Loser Wisla Krakow still closes the standings with five games lost. Pogon RS will face higher ranked Polonia Bytom (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wisla Krakow's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Krakow to the arena AZS PK.
