Finals Game 1: Gigantes - Montaneras 76-59

Gigantes rallied past Montaneras to gain 1-0 lead in the championship series. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Gigantes's pressure prevailed and they won that period 21-10 extending their advantage to 17 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Montaneras' 32. Gigantes forced 24 Montaneras turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international guard Carla Cortijo (172-87, college: Texas) fired 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American guard Alexis Hornbuckle (180-85, college: Tennessee) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American center Sasha Goodlett (195-90, college: Georgia Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Shae Kelley (185-91, college: Minnesota) added 13 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
