Regular Season Round 5: Hamar - Armann 104-77
Date: October 24, 2016
Bottom-ranked Armann (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 104-77 loss to fourth ranked Hamar (3-1) in Hamar. It looked good early as Armann took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hamar had a 30-18 second period charge getting the lead and Armann was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-104. Hamar made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Armann turnovers. American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Oddur Olafsson (180-92, college: Birm.Southern) contributed with 17 points and 5 assists for the winners. Center Johann Fridriksson (202-94) answered with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Dagur Palsson added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Armann. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hamar maintains fourth place with 3-1 record. Armann at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Hamar will play against Valur (#5) in Reykjavik in the next round. Armann will play at home against IA (#8) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
