Regular Season Round 5: Abejas - Correcaminos 87-80

Rather expected game in Guanajuato where 7th ranked Correcaminos (1-4) were defeated by fifth ranked Abejas (3-1) 87-80 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Abejas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was guard Matt Glover (196-91, college: USF) who scored 23 points and 6 assists. Guard Tomas Sanchez (190, college: Idaho St.) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Theron Laudermill (202-89, college: CS San Bernar.) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Ryan McCoy (183-87, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Haylett Sports) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Correcaminos' coach Luis Andres Garcia rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Abejas. They moved-up to third place. Correcaminos lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Barreteros and Indios. Abejas will again meet at home Correcaminos (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Correcaminos will have a break next round.
