Regular Season Round 4: Canberra - Melbourne 64-55

Date: October 28, 2016
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Boomers' (3-3) road loss to fourth ranked Canberra Capitals (3-2) 55-64. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Quite impressive performance for American forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 22 rebounds. Center Marianna Tolo (196-89) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Canberra Capitals players scored in double figures. Forward Olivia Thompson (185-93) replied with 9 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Alice Kunek (187-91) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Boomers. Boomers' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Canberra Capitals maintains fourth position with 3-2 record. Boomers at the other side keep the fifth place with three games lost. Canberra Capitals' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Dandenong Rangers on the road and it may be the game of the week. Boomers will play against Perth Lynx and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
