Regular Season Round 4: Promitheas - Aris 79-89

Everything could happen in Patras at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Aris and 13th ranked Promitheas had identical 1-2 record. But Promitheas was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Thessaloniki 89-79 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-79. Aris made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Aris outrebounded Promitheas 37-24 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Promitheas was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American Michael Jenkins (193-86, college: Winthrop) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian power forward Tadija Dragicevic (206-86) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Aris players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard McKenzie Moore (198-92, college: UTEP, agency: Two Points) responded with 19 points and 5 assists and Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU, agency: Comsport) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aris (2-2) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Lavrio. Newly promoted Promitheas dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Aris will face league's second-placed Olympiacos in Athens in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Promitheas will play on the road against Apollon Patras (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
