There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Azuqueca (4-2) defeated at home second-best Gran Canaria B (4-2) 66-59 on Saturday. Gran Canaria B trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 17-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 59-66 at the end of the game. Azuqueca made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Jorge Tejera (200-92) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Serbian power forward Branislav Tomic (205-80) chipped in 11 points and 5 assists. Five Azuqueca players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Senegalese center Biram Faye (206-0) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds and Latvia guard Dzeiks-Eduards Krumins (186-97) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Gran Canaria B's coach Rafael Arocha rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Azuqueca moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Alcobendas and Gran Canaria B. Azuqueca will face higher ranked Real Madrid II (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gran Canaria B will play against Quintanar and hope to win that game.
