Rather predictable result in Hyogo where second ranked Nishinomiya S. (10-2) beat 5th ranked Tokyo Excel. (3-9) 69-60 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tokyo Excel. won third quarter 24-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Nishinomiya S. won last quarter 18-11. The best player for the winners was American forward Larry Owens (201-83, college: ORU, agency: Three Eye Sports) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Noriaki Douhara (178-89) chipped in 15 points. American center Luke Evans (203-91, college: Cal.Baptist) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Tokyo Excel. players scored in double figures. Nishinomiya S. maintains second place with 10-2 record having just one point less than leader Gunma. Loser Tokyo Excel. dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
