Rather expected game when 6th ranked Toyama Grouses (1-10) were smashed on the road by fourth ranked Niigata Albirex (6-5) 94-73 on Saturday. The game without a history. Niigata Albirex led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Niigata Albirex forced 19 Toyama Grouses turnovers. American players dominated also this game. Power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 9 rebounds. Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Center Earl Barron (211-81, college: Memphis) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific, agency: Pensack Sports) added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Toyama Grouses. Toyama Grouses' coach Bob Nash gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Niigata Albirex. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Hitachi SR. Toyama Grouses lost their ninth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with ten games lost. Niigata Albirex will face again Toyama Grouses (#6) at home in the next round.
