Regular Season Round 4: Alghero - Bolzano 52-76

Bolzano can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Alghero, where they outplayed Alghero (0-4) 76-52. The game without a history. Bolzano led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alghero to just 7 points in second quarter. Bolzano dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Alghero's 24. They outrebounded Alghero 40-27 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatia power forward Ivona Matic (189-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Safy Fall (176-89) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Bolzano's coach Maurizio Travaglini felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Sara Azzellini (170-86) replied with 18 points and 5 rebounds and center Alexandra Petrova (185-97) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Alghero. Bolzano (1-3) left bottom position moving up to twelfth place in A2. Newly promoted Alghero still closes the standings with four games lost. Bolzano will play against league's second-placed Milano at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Alghero will play against Costa Masnaga (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
