Regular Season Round 7: Lanzarote - Rivas 86-69

Rather predictable result when eleventh ranked Lanzarote (3-4) won against at home 15th ranked Rivas (1-6) 86-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 17 points. Lanzarote outrebounded Rivas 42-23 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for center PA Diene (208-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds. American forward Kennedy Eubanks (198-93, college: Texas Arlington) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Worth to mention Eubanks played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Swingman Javier De Pinto (197-92) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Jorge Aguado (185-87) added 10 points and 7 assists in the effort for Rivas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lanzarote moved-up to tenth place in Group B, which they share with Villarrobledo. Rivas lost their fifth game in a row. Rivas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourteenth position with six games lost. Lanzarote will face Villarrobledo (#11) on the road in the next round. Rivas will play against Alcobendas and hope to win that game.
