Regular Season Round 7: TAKE Tolosa - Pielagos 49-67

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Pielagos and bottom-ranked TAKE Tolosa had identical 0-4 record. But TAKE Tolosa was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Renedo de Pielagos 67-49 on Saturday night. Pielagos held TAKE Tolosa to an opponent 22.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.0 percent accuracy of the winners and made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. Pielagos outrebounded TAKE Tolosa 51-32 including a 42-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. TAKE Tolosa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for naturalized Ukrainian center Volodymyr Orlov (208-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 21 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Point guard Brais Gago (180-96) contributed with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Jon Azaldegi (190-91) answered with 11 points and 6 rebounds and guard Andoni Elustondo (180-95) added 9 points in the effort for TAKE Tolosa. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pielagos maintains twelfth place in Group A-A with 1-4 record, which they share with Univ.Burgos and Venta de Banos. It was TAKE Tolosa's fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Pielagos will face Venta de Banos (#14) at home in the next round. TAKE Tolosa will play against Easo in San Sebastian and hopes to get finally their first victory.
