Regular Season Round 7: JAC Sants - Mataro 78-63

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked JAC Sants (1-5) defeated higher ranked Mataro (2-4) in Barcelona 78-63 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by JAC Sants. Mataro was better in third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JAC Sants forced 19 Mataro turnovers. It was a very good performance for center Aitor Gomez (210-93) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Alex Olive (-96) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five JAC Sants players scored in double figures. Guard Santiago Serrataco (187-90) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and David Romero (-90) added 12 points in the effort for Mataro. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. JAC Sants left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place in Group C-A, which they share with Sant Nicolau. It was Mataro's fourth loss in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with four games lost. JAC Sants will face higher ranked Santfeliuenc (#9) in Sant Feliu in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
