Regular Season Round 6: Novy Jicin - Prostejov B 72-67

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Novy Jicin (4-2) beat at home 10th ranked BK Prostejov B (1-5) 72-67 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Novy Jicin outrebounded BK Prostejov B 44-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. Power forward Rostislav Pelikan (209-78) had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Tadeas Janik (201-94) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Five Novy Jicin players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Marek Sehnal (196-96) with 27 points and Slovakian Milan Szabo (204-98) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Novy Jicin moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Opava B and Sokol Slapanice. BK Prostejov B at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Novy Jicin will face B&W Opava B (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BK Prostejov B will play against the league's leader SKB Zlin (#1) and hope to win that game.
