There was a minor upset when 12th ranked UB Chartres (4-6) was defeated at home by fourteenth ranked Lorient (4-6) 88-77 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 30-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Lorient forced 22 UB Chartres turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. UB Chartres was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Jared Newson (196-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Inception Sports) fired 27 points for the winners. The other American import forward Michael Craion (195-89, college: ORU) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Five Lorient players scored in double figures. American forward Jonathan Mitchell (201-87, college: Rutgers, agency: Inception Sports) produced 24 points and 4 assists and point guard Olivier Romain (180-88) added 17 points and 8 assists respectively for lost side. UB Chartres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lorient moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with SAP Vaucluse and Chartres. Lorient will face SAP Vaucluse (#12) in Sorgues in the next round.
