Regular Season Round 10: Vitre - Challans 76-71

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Vitre (7-3) beat at home 13th ranked Vendee Challans (3-7) 76-71 on Tuesday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 24-8 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Vitre made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Vendee Challans was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Guillaume Merie (198-83) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Desmond Quincy-Jones (201-85, college: Pace) chipped in 21 points. Serbian Djordje Petrovic (202-84) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and American center Demarco Cox (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vendee Challans' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vitre moved-up to third place, which they share with Caen. Loser Vendee Challans dropped to the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Vitre will face Rueil (#6) on the road in the next round. Vendee Challans will play against Angers BC (#8) and hope to win that game.
