Regular Season Round 8: Barreteros - Correcaminos 82-72

Rather expected game in Zacatecas where 10th ranked Correcaminos (2-7) were defeated by seventh ranked Barreteros (3-5) 82-72 on Thursday. Correcaminos were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 30-18 charge of Barreteros, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Correcaminos' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Barreteros made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import center James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Five Barreteros players scored in double figures. American Theron Laudermill (202-89, college: CS San Bernar.) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds and Alejandro Perez added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Barreteros moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Garzas and Indios. Correcaminos lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Barreteros will again meet at home bottom-ranked Correcaminos (#10) in the next round. Correcaminos will have a break next round.
