Everything could happen in Changchun at the game between two tied teams. Both fourteenth ranked Jilin Tigers and 11th ranked Shanxi Zhongyu had identical 2-2 record. This time Jilin Tigers used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Taiyuan 102-93 on Friday night. Jilin Tigers made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Shanxi Zhongyu turnovers. Shanxi Zhongyu was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Malcolm Thomas (206-88, college: San Diego St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 22 rebounds and 5 assists. Iranian point guard Mahdi Kamrani (181-82) contributed with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and Haitian-Canadian center Samuel Dalembert (211-81, college: Seton Hall) added 10 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Shanxi Zhongyu. Five Jilin Tigers and four Shanxi Zhongyu players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Jilin Tigers (3-2) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Loser Shanxi Zhongyu dropped to the thirteenth position with three games lost. Jilin Tigers will face higher ranked Liaoning Hunters (#5) in Yingkou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shanxi Zhongyu will play at home against Beijing Ducks (#3) and hope to win that game.
