Regular Season Round 11: Gent Hawks - Ieper 88-66

Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Ieper (4-7) was outscored on the road by fourth ranked Gent Hawks (8-3) 88-66. Gent Hawks dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Ieper's 24. Gent Hawks forced 20 Ieper turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for center Rik Van den Berghe (206-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Gregory De Pooter (197-84) helped adding 16 points and 6 rebounds. Spanish center Malick Fall (211-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds and swingman Robin Mestdagh (195-88, college: E.Kentucky) scored 19 points. Five Gent Hawks and four Ieper players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gent Hawks. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Soba and Oxaco. Ieper at the other side dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Gent Hawks will play against league's leader Gembo BBC in Borgerhout in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ieper will play at home against Gistel Oostende (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
