Regular Season Round 7: GBA Sparta - Sokol Pisek 74-86

Sokol Pisek can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Praha, where they defeated GBA Sparta (2-5) 86-74 on Sunday. Strangely GBA Sparta outrebounded Sokol Pisek 52-27 including a 21-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. GBA Sparta was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Dalibor Fait (203-93) fired 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Petr Slechta (192-95) chipped in 27 points. Forward Michal Kozak (202-98) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks and Slovakian forward Matej Drgon (202-98) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sokol Pisek maintains tenth place in Group A with 1-5 record. It was GBA Sparta's third loss in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Sokol Pisek will face higher ranked Nymburk B (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
