Regular Season Round 6: Macc.Rehovot - Hap.Haifa 93-80

Bottom-ranked Maccabi Rehovot managed to get a second victory on Tuesday night. This time newly promoted Maccabi Rehovot won against fifth-ranked Hap.Haifa 93-80. Maccabi Rehovot shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Evan Yates (198-91, college: Ashland) who scored 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Marquis Addison (195-91, college: Missouri So., agency: XL Basketball Agency) chipped in 18 points and 7 assists. Yates is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Maccabi Rehovot's coach Avner Yeor used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Bahamas forward Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college: IPFW) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi Rehovot (2-4) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Maccabi H/H and Galil Elion. Hap.Haifa at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 6 other teams. Maccabi Rehovot will meet higher ranked Hapoel Afula (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hap.Haifa will play against Hap.R/G Givat. (#10) and hope to secure a win.
