Regular Season Round 9: Baerum Basket - Tromso 71-74

There was an upset in Bekkestua where higher ranked Baerum Basket (7-4) was edged by ninth ranked Tromso (3-9) 74-71 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Baerum Basket won third quarter 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tromso made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Baerum Basket turnovers. Guard Hani Issalhi (191-84) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and guard Henrik Lange (189-95) chipped in 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Tromso players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Stian Mjos (183-89) with 30 points and 4 steals and Nigerian-American forward Joseph Nwabuzor (192-85, college: Acadia) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Tromso maintains ninth place with 3-9 record. Loser Baerum Basket dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Tromso will face higher ranked Centrum (#8) in Oslo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Baerum Basket will play on the road against Persbraten (#10) in Oslo and hope to win that game.
