Regular Season Round 8: Catanzaro - Cefalu 89-74

Very expected game when 15th ranked Cefalu (1-6) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Catanzaro (4-3) 89-74 on Sunday. Catanzaro made 35-of-44 free shots (79.5 percent) during the game, while Cefalu only scored twelve points from the stripe. They outrebounded Cefalu 37-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. Cefalu was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Gianluca Carpanzano (188-95, agency: Players Group) who scored 30 points and 4 steals. Swingman Giorgio Artioli (196-95) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Jordan Losi (182-80) produced 15 points and naturalized Argentinian point guard Emiliano Paparella (180-83, agency: Players Group) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cefalu's coach Fabio Nardone rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Catanzaro moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Matera. Cefalu lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with six games lost. Catanzaro will face Palestrina (#6) in Roma in the next round. Cefalu will play at home against Roma S.Azzurra (#12) and hope to win that game.
