Regular Season Round 7: Parnu - Barons Riga 88-82 OT

Estonian Parnu (1-4) outlasted Latvian Barons Riga (3-2) in overtime by six points 88-82 on Tuesday night. Barons Riga was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 26-20 charge of Parnu, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 15-9. Parnu forced 20 Barons Riga turnovers. Strangely Barons Riga outrebounded Parnu 43-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Barons Riga was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for British guard Teddy Okereafor (193-92, college: Rider, agency: Two Points) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 5 assists. Swingman Saimon Sutt (200-95) helped adding 18 points. At the losing side Lithuanian forward Denis Krestinin (202-94, agency: BeoBasket) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds and Lithuanian Tauras Jogela (202-93, agency: Players Group) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Five Parnu and four Barons Riga players scored in double figures. Parnu left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with Jurmala. Barons Riga at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Parnu will face Jurmala (#5) on the road in the next round. Barons Riga will play against Liepaja/Triobet and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
