Regular Season Round 7: Jekabpils - TTU 90-87

Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Latvian Jekabpils (5-1) edged at home 12th ranked Estonian TTU (2-4) 90-87 on Tuesday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Jekabpils looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by TTU's players. It was a great evening for Roberts Stumbris (199-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. Center Jurijs Aleksejevs (202-85) helped adding 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Jekabpils' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side power forward Joonas Jarvelainen (202-90, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 28 points and 5 rebounds and Sten Olmre (192-95) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Five Jekabpils and four TTU players scored in double figures. They have a solid series of four victories in a row. Jekabpils moved-up to eighth place, which they share with P.Zvaigzdes. TTU at the other side keeps the twelfth position with four games lost. Jekabpils will face P.Zvaigzdes (#8) in Pasvalys in the next round. TTU will play on the road against Valmiera (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
