Very important is a home loss of second ranked German ALBA Berlin (3-3) against fifth ranked Spanish RETAbet BB (2-3) on Wednesday night. Host ALBA Berlin was defeated by RETAbet BB in a tough game in Berlin 88-92. ALBA Berlin was ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 26-17 charge of RETAbet BB, which allowed them to win the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Croatian power forward Ivan Buva (208-91) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Niels Giffey (200-91, college: Connecticut) came up with 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American point guard Peyton Siva (183-90, college: Louisville) added 12 points and 8 assists respectively for ALBA Berlin in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. RETAbet BB moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Lietuvos rytas. ALBA Berlin at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. RETAbet BB's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Lietuvos rytas (#5) in Vilnius. ALBA Berlin will play on the road against the league's leader Khimky and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
