Regular Season Round 17: Shiga L-Stars - Nagoya DD 81-74

There was a surprise result when sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (4-13) won against at home second-ranked Diamond Dolphins (10-7) 81-74 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 47-38 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Narito Namizato (172-89) contributed with 9 points and 8 assists for the winners. Shiga L-Stars' coach Tohyama Kohto used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and international power forward Tenketsu Harimoto (198-92) added 17 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Diamond Dolphins. Shiga L-Stars maintains sixth place with 4-13 record. Loser Diamond Dolphins keep the second position with seven games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face higher ranked Kyoto Hannar. (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Diamond Dolphins will play against Osaka Evessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
