Regular Season Round 1: Singapore S. - KL Dragons 80-62

An interesting game for Singapore Singapore Slingers (2-0) which hosted in Singapore Malaysian KL Dragons (0-1). Singapore Slingers had an easy win 80-62. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Singapore Slingers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to KL Dragons' 36. They outrebounded KL Dragons 42-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Singapore Slingers looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by KL Dragons' players. American guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import center Justin Howard (208-81, college: Mercer) accounted for 22 points and 7 rebounds. Four Singapore Slingers players scored in double figures. American-Israeli point guard Freddie Goldstein (178-88, college: S.Alabama) came up with 22 points and 5 steals and American forward Marcus Melvin (206-82, college: N.Carolina St.) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for KL Dragons in the defeat. Singapore Slingers will meet Saigon Heat (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. KL Dragons will have a break next round.
