Regular Season Round 11: Breogan - Melilla 80-76

Date: November 26, 2016
Very expected game in Lugo where 11th ranked Melilla Baloncesto (4-7) was defeated by fourth ranked Leche Rio Breogan (8-3) 80-76 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 36-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Leche Rio Breogan made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Leche Rio Breogan outrebounded Melilla Baloncesto 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Nigerian-American forward Michael Fakuade (201-89, college: Ill.-Springfield) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. British center Aaron Geramipoor (213-92, college: Seton Hall) helped adding 9 points and 7 rebounds. Center Oliver Arteaga (208-83) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and guard Marcos Suka-Umu (192-85) scored 16 points. Four Melilla Baloncesto players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Leche Rio Breogan keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Melilla Baloncesto dropped to the twelfth place with seven games lost. Leche Rio Breogan will face Leyma Basquet (#4) in Coruna in the next round. Melilla Baloncesto will play at home against Oviedo CB (#5) and hope to win that game.
