Regular Season Round 13: Challans - Souffel 75-83

Very predictable result when second ranked Souffelweyersheim (11-2) defeated on the road 16th ranked Vendee Challans (4-9) 83-75 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vendee Challans won third quarter 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vendee Challans was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Valentin Correia (192-93) stepped up and scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Senegalese forward Elson Mendy (200-85) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side swingman Dominique Gentil (197-88, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and American center Demarco Cox (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Five Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Souffelweyersheim keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Quimper. Loser Vendee Challans keeps the sixteenth place with nine games lost. Souffelweyersheim will face Rueil (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Vendee Challans will play against Caen (#5) and hope to win that game.
